Here’s How Heather Locklear’s Fairytale Life Took a Turn…

Instagram // @heatherlocklear

Heather Locklear rocked to fame in the 1980s in Dynasty and T.J. Hooker. The beach blonde, all-American girl adorned millions of teenage boys’ bedroom walls. But she disappointed them all when she married Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee and Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora. She had a daughter with Sambora and lived a charmed life, but then her fairytale existence came crashing down around her.

Heather’s Early Life

Heather Deen Locklear was born in Los Angeles, California, on September 25th, 1961. Her mother was production executive Diane (née Tinsley). Her father was Bill Locklear, a former United States Marine Corps colonel and administrator at the University of California.

Even though she’s famous as an all-American blonde girl next door, Heather has native American roots. These come from her father’s Lumbee ancestry, a tribe from North Carolina. Locklear is a Tuscarora word that means “hold fast.”

The Cheerleading Squad Turned Her Down

Believe it or not, during high school, Heather tried out for the cheerleading squad only to be rejected. Since cliquey high school girls can get awful jealous, we can only assume this is why they turned her away. This rejection ended up working out in Heather’s favor.

The cheerleading squad’s loss was the drama club’s gain as they welcomed the good-looking lass with open arms. Locklear fell in love with acting. So we have jealous cheerleaders to thank for Heather Locklear’s acting career.

Puppy Love

Heather has always been gorgeous. Her long blonde hair, huge blue eyes, and blinding smile turned heads even at school. In the 1970s, her classmates often compared her to Farrah Fawcett, the big-haired star of Charlie’s Angels. One of her school friends was a young man named Chris Heisser, who also looked like Farrah Fawcett.

The two blondies started dating, and Heisser became Locklear’s first love. They soon split up as they traveled different paths. But, Heather and Chris would get back together decades later, reunited by The Fates.

University Life

After finishing high school, Heather attended the University of California in Los Angeles, where her father worked. She was a member of the Chi Omega and Delta Delta Delta sororities but was never initiated into either sisterhood.

While at UCLA, she began modeling and appeared in adverts for the school store. Heather was a looker from a young age, and this modeling work soon blossomed into real work. Soon, she appeared in commercials for famous brands like Pepsi and Polaroid.

Early Acting Career

In the early 1980s, Heather began her screen career with minor roles in CHiPs, 240-Robert, Eight Is Enough, and Fantasy Island. Many remember her for appearing in The Fall Guy alongside Lee Major’s stuntman Colt Seavers, but you may be surprised to hear she only appeared in one episode.

Yes, folks… that’s because many people — including one we’ll meet soon — mixed up Heather Locklear and Heather Thomas (pictured). Both were beautiful blondes with the same first name, but the one in The Fall Guy was Heather Thomas.

Dynasty

Locklear’s real breakthrough came with a long-term collaboration with Aaron Spelling. The infamous television mogul produced Starsky and Hutch, Charlie’s Angels, The Love Boat, Hart to Hart, Dynasty, Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place, Charmed, and many more beloved shows.

Tori Spelling’s dad cast Heather in the second season of Dynasty. She played glamorous Sammy Jo Dean from 1981 to the show’s finale in 1989. Aaron and Locklear reunited when she appeared in 1991’s short-lived miniseries Dynasty: The Reunion.

T.J. Hooker

The following year, in 1982, Aaron Spelling cast Heather as Officer Stacy Sheridan in the cop show T.J. Hooker. She starred alongside legendary Canadian actor William Shatner in his first major role since captaining the USS Enterprise as James Tiberius Kirk in the Star Trek TV show and subsequent movie outings.

Together, Shatner and Locklear fought Los Angeles crime from 1982 to 1986. However, a few decades later, Heather Locklear ended up on the wrong side of the law.

Tom Cruise

By the mid-’80s, Heather’s posters adorned just about half of every American boy’s bedroom wall. But Locklear had another admirer. In the early ’80s, she met a young Tom Cruise at an audition. They hit it off and decided to meet up later that night.

Locklear explained to Chelsea Handler in a 2013 episode of Chelsea Lately, “It wasn’t exactly a date.” She went on to explain she didn’t know what to do when Cruise started name-dopping and dropping some of his dance moves from Risky Business.

Getty Images // Vinnie Zuffante

The actress later told Handler, “You just kind of stand there and don’t know what to do. Do you dance around him?” Heather eventually sat down, feeling somewhat embarrassed while Cruise strutted his stuff. Needless to say, that was their first and last date!

Scott Baio

Another perennial 1970s and 80s TV star was Scott Baio. He played Chachi Arcola in the sitcom Happy Days and the lead role in Bugsy Malone. Despite competing with The Fonz, Scott’s character was so popular with fans that he and Joni Cuningham were given their own spin-off, Chachi Loves Joni.

Scott and Locklear met in 1983 on the set of Battle of the Network Stars and he was a smitten kitten from the get-go. Forget Chachi Loves Joni — this was Baio Loves Locklear.

Getty Images // Barry King // WireImage

Scott told People magazine, “Heather Locklear was the first girl I was ever in love with. She is the greatest chick in the world, and I just ruined it.” Yep, Scott Baio couldn’t commit, so they went their separate ways.

Mark Harmon

Following her stint playing Sammie Jo on Dynasty, Heather played Drew Barrymore’s mother in 1984’s Firestarter. Widely, she was only 14 years older than her on-screen daughter. The following year, People Magazine launched their hunkiest man alive award, though they didn’t use the word hunky. The second winner of this prestigious award was a young actor named Mark Harmon.

While Harmon is most famous nowadays for playing Leroy Jethro Gibbs in NCIS, he played Dr. Robert Caldwell in the 1980s hospital drama St. Elsewhere. By this time, Heather was one of Hollywood’s most sought-after bachelorettes, and they hooked up for one short-lived festive fling.

According to Mark, their ultra-brief romance started sometime over Christmas but was over by New Year’s. The NCIS star described their fling as “just an emotional cup of coffee.” Harsh!

Love at First Sight

In 1985, Heather broke every boy’s heart by getting together with Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee. They first met, hanging out backstage at an REO Speedwagon concert. And when the rock’ n’ roll bad boy locked eyes with Heather Locklear backstage at that gig, it was love at first sight.

Tommy explained, “The first time I saw Heather, I got so flipped out I think I lost part of my mind.” Apparently, he took her hand and said, “Hi, I’m Tommy, nice to touch you.”

Getty Images //Richard E. Aaron // Redferns

The drummer later told People magazine that he had to ask a mutual friend to introduce him to the gorgeous actress because “I was so shy I couldn’t possibly have gone up to her myself, but it was Heather or bust.”

Schoolboy Error

That mutual friend who got Heather’s number for Tommy was actually a dentist who happened to know Locklear’s dentist. Eventually, Lee plucked up the courage to ring Heather to call her and ask her out on a date. But it very nearly didn’t happen because the Mötley Crüe drummer made a schoolboy error.

Tommy dialed Heather’s number. He waited on tenterhooks before she finally picked up. Then he blurted out, “Hey, check it out; you’re on channel two.” Only Heather wasn’t on channel two.

Getty Images // Kevin Winter

He’d been watching The Fall Guy, and that was Heather Thomas — not Heather Locklear! Luckily for Tommy, she saw the funny side. What could have been the nail in the coffin for their relationship became a humorous, ‘we almost didn’t get together’ after-dinner anecdote.

First Date

For their first date, Tommy took Heather for a romantic dinner at an Italian restaurant, followed by a comedy show at Los Angeles’ famous Comedy Store. But even though they were both 23 years old by this point, Heather was as nervous and excited as a teenager before their first date.

When Tommy pulled up at Heather’s Los Angeles apartment in a limousine to pick her up for their first-ever date, as you can probably imagine, he rocked up wearing his usual rocker garb of tight black leather and wild, backcombed, hair-sprayed hair.

The sight of Tommy sent Heather running, but not in the way you might expect! She later explained, “I came downstairs, saw Tommy, and ran back upstairs to make my hair wilder. It was great!”

Winning Over Heather’s Parents

The pair got on like a house on fire, and — much to the chagrin of her young male fans — it seemed like they were a match made in heaven. After a few successful dates, they started going steady and announced to the world that they were boyfriend and girlfriend.

The heavily tattooed Mötley Crüe bad boy had charmed Heather into his life, but there was one last stumbling block. Meeting her parents for the first time! Tommy was petrified of how her dad would react to his many tattoos and piercings.

Tommy said, “I’m pulling earrings out, putting on a long-sleeve shirt, and when [her father] comes in, I’m sitting like a gentleman on the couch.” However, Locklear’s strict dad gives the couple his blessing after seeing how much Tommy loves his daughter.

Love in a Limousine

Heather asked Tommy to marry her while they were staying in a Dallas hotel room just a few months after they met. Tommy revealed in an interview, “I said, ‘Now, don’t say that kind of stuff unless you mean it.’ I didn’t want to be heartbroken.”

Tommy also ended up proposing marriage. But this time, he did it properly. On Christmas Eve, 1985, he got down on one knee while they were sipping Champagne in the back of a limousine — presumably as it whizzed in and out of Los Angeles’ nighttime traffic on its way to some trendy rock club — and popped the question.

Getty Images // Vinnie Zuffante

He presented Heather with a 2.3-karat diamond engagement ring. The delighted actress said yes, and the happy couple set a date for the following spring.

Love and Marriage

On May 10th, 1986, the deliriously happy couple exchanged their vows in front of 500 guests at Santa Barbara’s Biltmore Hotel. The 24-year-old beauty wore a stunning delicate fishtail mermaid wedding gown, while Tommy looked hilarious in a white leather tuxedo!

As Tommy and Heather exchanged vows, kissed, and stared into each other’s eyes, they must have believed their marriage would last a lifetime.

Pinterest // Daily Mail

Not long after the wedding, Tommy excitedly told People magazine, “I think we’ll be the coolest grandma and grandpa in the world. We’ll be like 85 or 90; I’ll still be a rock pig, and Heather will still be gorgeous.” He was right about Heather still being gorgeous; he couldn’t have been more wrong about their union…

Rollercoaster Relationship

The newly-wed couple moved into a lavish $2 million house in Los Angeles’ Westlake Village, and for a short while, it was wedded bliss. Infamous womanizers Mötley Crüe released albums like Shout at the Devil and were often accused of worshipping the devil. But angelic Locklear once told People, “Tommy doesn’t worship the devil; he worships me.”

Heather was Tommy’s second wife, as he married Elaine Starchuk in 1984. Their marriage lasted seven days, and they divorced in 1985, which should have been a massive red flag for Heather.

Getty Images // Barry King // Sygma

But Tommy didn’t just worship his second wife; he worshipped any woman. He once admitted he would sleep with “anything with a pulse.” He insisted he was a changed man and that his marriage to Heather saved him. But leopards rarely change their spots…

First Divorce

Tommy often cheated on Heather while he was away touring with Vince Neil, Nikki Six, and Mick Mars. Eventually, in the mid-’90s, his luck ran out when one of his many infidelities — this time with an adult movie star — was caught on camera.

This was the last straw for Heather. While she was aware of Tommy’s transgressions, this time, it was unforgivable. The devastated actress immediately filed for divorce. News of the divorce hit the headlines, and magazines commented that “she grew sick of the groupies” and “it took her that long to end a marriage that went bad on the honeymoon.”

Getty Images // Kevin Winter

Today, Heather and Tommy are still friends. In 2016, on what would have been their 30th anniversary, she posted a photo of her and Lee with the caption, “Happy 30 Years Baby.”

Bret Michaels

After divorcing Tommy, Heather got together with another 1980s hair metal bad boy. This time, the lucky man was Poison’s lead singer, Bret Michaels. He and his rock band rocked to fame with hits like “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” and “Nothin’ But a Good Time.”

Bret and Heather met at a party hosted by mutual friends in the early ’90s and embarked on a short-lived but passionate relationship. By this time, Heather was a rock music aficionado, tutored by her ex-husband Tommy. Eventually, Heather and Bret drifted apart but remained on friendly terms.

Instagram // @bretmichaelsofficial

Both Tommy Lee and Bret Michaels had relationships with Heather Locklear and Pamela Anderson. To this day, Bret and Tommy — and Mötley Crüe and Poison, for that matter — hate each other’s guts!

Melrose Place

In 1992, Aaron Spelling launched yet another TV show. This soap opera was called Melrose Place, and it ran on the Fox network. Unusually for a Spelling production, viewing figures were low, so Aaron and his co-producers cast Heather to boost ratings. Their ploy worked, but it cost them big bucks.

Heather was paid $40,000 per episode, and she played the part for 199 episodes between 1993 and 1999. We make that a smidgeon under $8 million.

She played advertising executive Amanda Woodward, who got up to all sorts of shenanigans and dated almost every male character in the show. One of Amanda’s boyfriends was Dr. Peter Burns, played by Jack Wagner. To cut a long story short, when the show ended, Amanda and Peter ran away together to a tropical island.

Richie Sambora

Now, you may think Heather learned her lesson after being burned by one rock n’ roll bad boy. Yet, within a year of divorcing Tommy Lee, she married another famous rock musician. His name was Richie Sambora, and he was famous for playing guitar in the 1980s hair metal band Bon Jovi.

They met in 1994 but immediately encountered a hurdle. He was a sk8r boi; she did ballet. Sorry, wrong decade! Richie lived in New Jersey on the West Coast, while beach blonde Heather resided in sunny California.

Despite living at opposite ends of the country, Heather and Richie managed to make their relationship work. Less than a year after splitting from Tommy Lee, Locklear married Sambora in Paris. Three years later, they had a daughter, Ava Elizabeth Sambora, in 1997.

Spin City

Two years after Ava was born, Heather won a role in Spin City. The hugely popular sitcom was set in the New York City mayor’s office and originally starred Michael J. Fox as Mike Flaherty, the Deputy Mayor of New York.

Heather played Caitlin Moore for 76 episodes from 1999 to 2002, and during her tenure, Michael J. Fox Fox left the show in 2000 after the fourth season due to his Parkinson’s disease. Charlie Sheen replaced Fox as the new lead, Charlie Crawford, for the final two seasons.

Instagram // @heatherlocklear

Now, Charlie Sheen was a notorious bad boy and had a list of dependency issues as long as a giraffe’s neck. We’re not saying that he led Heather Locklear astray, but coincidentally around this time, her life started getting very messy.

Second Marriage

Locklear’s fairytale marriage to Sambora was everything she ever wanted. The family lived in domestic bliss, and when Richie went away on tour, she could seemingly trust him not to cheat with groupies. He was everything Tommy Lee wasn’t. While Lee was a narcissistic, philandering, spoiled man-baby, Richie Sambora was a loving, doting father. Or was he?

Well, in February 2006, Heather blindsided Sambora by filing for divorce after 11 years of marriage. He had no idea until Heather put out a press release citing Richie’s substance problems and rumors he was cheating, which he denied.

Instagram // @heather_locklear_fan_page_

But what really happened? Well, it transpires that Heather had discovered an email from a mutual female friend on her husband’s computer. Attached to the email were… let’s just call them some racy photos of the aforementioned friend.

A Friend in Need…

The following month, Richie filed for joint custody of their daughter Ava and enforced a prenuptial agreement. Their divorce was finalized in April 2007. But while male fans were happy their teenage crush was single, the “absolutely devastated” actress was about to spiral into oblivion. To make matters worse, her mentor, Aaron Spelling, passed away.

Heather turned to one of her best friends, stunning Starship Troopers actress Denise Richards, for a shoulder to cry on. But Denise wasn’t there for her, and there was a very good reason why she deserted Locklear. Denise was dating Richie!

Instagram // @deniserichards

In her defense, Denise stated, “You know, she wasn’t my best friend. She was a close friend in the last couple of years. I hadn’t known her my whole life [like people are] portraying this.”

For Ava’s Sake

Despite their acrimonious split and divorce, Heather and Richie managed to remain on amicable terms for the sake of their young daughter. Sambora suing Locklear for joint custody of Ava (pictured) meant they ended up co-parenting.

Sambora once told People magazine, “If you don’t get along, you are messing the kid up.” The ex-flames successfully set aside their differences, occasionally spending Christmas and Thanksgiving together. The co-parents did a stellar job raising their daughter.

Instagram // @heatherlocklear

Ava became a model and actress and graduated from USC with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, which must come in handy at Christmas and Thanksgiving family get-togethers! To this day, Sambora says he has immense respect for his ex-wife and has said that they’re “better friends now than ever before.”

David Spade

After marrying two rootin’ tootin’ cheatin’ rock n’ roll bad boys, Heather was determined to steer clear of heavy metal musicians. While her divorce was coming through, she dated an actor because actors are famous for being so much more honorable, right?! Still only 37, the newly single actress soon started dating stand-up comedian, actor, and Saturday Night Live cast member David Spade.

Getty Images // Bauer-Griffin // GC Images

She was attracted to him because of his great sense of humor, and she once told TMZ, “He has a big…” We think she must have meant his big personality!

Locklear and Spade dated for just six months, but she left an impression. In an interview on Radio Andy, Spade explained, “She was nice to go out with me, and I will always be indebted to her because she was so nice, so fun.”

Jack Wagner

By this time, Heather had been in Fox’s soap opera Melrose Place for more than a decade, and, as mentioned, her character Amanda Woodward was in a relationship with conniving Dr. Peter Burns — played by actor, musician, and rock guitarist Jack Wagner.

Though Jack and Heather had known each other for years, they had kept their relationship platonic. Then, a month after her divorce from Richie was finalized, she started dating her on-screen lover, Jack Wagner.

Getty Images // Samir Hussein

Locklear confessed to People magazine that their relationship was “wonderful, exciting, and blossoming.” In 2011, they became engaged. Finally, it looked like Heather had found the man of her dreams. Would they elope to a tropical island and end up walking hand in hand on the edge of the sand like The Owl and the Pussycat? Of course not!

911 Call

Life with Jack went well for a while, but remember earlier when we said Heather Locklear spiraled out of control? Well, in March 2008, during the early days of her relationship with her Melrose Place co-star Jack Wagner, someone claiming to be Locklear’s doctor made a frantic 911 call to the LAPD.

The emergency call stated Locklear was trying to take her own life. Emergency responders arrived at the actress’s Westlake Village home only to discover she was fine. They did, however, state that they believed the call was genuine.

But then, in June 2008, Heather checked into an Arizona medical facility for psychological ailments, including anxiety and depression. Her agent confirmed Locklear was suffering from anxiety and depression. In July, Heather finally returned home after four weeks of treatment.

DUI Arrest

In September 2008, Locklear was pulled over by California Highway Patrol and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. In true Hollywood fashion, a former editor at Us Weekly magazine called the cops after witnessing Locklear driving erratically in Santa Barbara. The city, not the soap opera.

Reporter Jill Ishkanian photographed Heather’s arrest and then sold the photos to TMZ for $27,500. She denied following the actress.

Getty Images // Paul Archuleta // FilmMagic

In November, Locklear was charged with DUI, but a blood test found no alcohol or illegal substances. The judge suggested her medications “could have impaired her ability to safely drive a motor vehicle.” In January 2009, Locklear pleaded no contest to reckless driving. Locklear was sentenced to three years probation, a DMV driver safety class, and a $700 fine.

Hit and Run

While Heather got off lightly with the reckless driving charge, she became over-reliant on prescription pills and adult beverages and soon found herself in trouble with the law again. This was a troubling time for Heather, and soon, she was forced to undergo a 30-day inpatient rehab program to treat her dependency issues.

But then, in 2010, she was behind the wheel again when she plowed her car into a no-parking sign near her home. To make matters worse, she decided it would be a good idea to flee the scene.

Instagram // @heatherlocklear

The police arrested Locklear a second time, this time for a misdemeanor hit-and-run. However, the authorities couldn’t file charges because they couldn’t prove who was driving the car, as it was registered in Locklear and her ex-husband Sambora’s names.

Engagement Canceled

While their relationship was blissful in the beginning, it was obvious that, behind the scenes, something was rotten in Denmark. Heather was spiraling into the abyss of substance dependency. In November 2011, Heather and Jack Wagner called off their engagement.

After spending a lot of time planning a grand wedding, they realized that getting married would be too disruptive to her daughter and his son. The couple split up in late 2011, and once again, Heather’s behavior became increasingly erratic.

Getty Images // Frazer Harrison

Jack “begged her to go to rehab” before they split up, but only after the pair had gone their separate ways that Locklear entered a treatment program. She and her family kept it away from the public, something that would become a major theme in her ever-more chaotic life.

Street Fighter

Heather managed to stay out of trouble for a while, but before long, the cops were involved yet again. One day between Christmas and New Year’s 2011, Jack visited Heather’s Thousand Oaks home to return some belongings she had left at his place when a disagreement turned violent on the street.

An anonymous source told the Daily Mail’s website, “A huge argument erupted as they insulted each other’s families. As Heather went to her car, Jack lunged at her, trying to grab or push her. Her reaction was to swing. She caught Jack with a right hook across his face, knocking him to the ground.”

Getty Images // Jason LaVeris // FilmMagic

Police were called to the scene, yet while no charges were filed, and the case was closed, Locklear’s life was falling apart at the seams.

Plea for Help

Less than two weeks later, on January 12th, 2012, Locklear’s sister called 911 when she believed Heather’s life was in danger after the actress reportedly took a plethora of prescription medicines together with adult beverages. Emergency personnel responded immediately, and an ambulance arrived at Heather’s residence.

Paramedics took Locklear to Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, California. However, she was reported to be out of danger the following day and made her way home.

Instagram // @heatherlocklear

It’s impossible to tell if Heather had tried to take her own life or if she was making a desperate call for help. Either way, something was going badly wrong in her life. She was relying too heavily on adult beverages and prescription pills, and this dangerous lifestyle was beginning to take its toll.

Tryna Make Me Go to Rehab

The following year, in 2013, Heather’s family finally admitted the actress had had issues with drinking, dating back years. No one knows precisely how long she had suffered from substance problems, but while one of the reasons she divorced Richie in 2007 was down to his dependency issues, it’s believed she also had a monkey on her back all this time.

Over the years, Locklear was in and out of rehabilitation programs more often than fast food lovers visit McDonalds.

Shutterstock // Carrie Nelson

It’s almost impossible to calculate how many times Locklear has been in rehab because, naturally, she and her family have tried to keep her many personal problems away from the media and the public eye. However, some reports say that she has been in rehab more than 20 times.

Larry Porush

After splitting with Jack and possibly attempting to take her own life, Locklear decided to go back on the dating market. She could have picked any man, but she eventually went on a blind date with Larry Porush, a tech entrepreneur worth over $50 million. The blind date must have gone well, as they soon became an item.

With a proper, grown-up businessman and not a man-boy rock star or dreamy actor in her life, it seemed as though Locklear had put her dark days behind her.

Getty Images // Christopher Polk // FilmMagic

Heather and Larry got engaged to be married. However, the relationship didn’t last. Despite Locklear frequently referring to Larry as “the one,” their relationship soon hit choppy waters, and they ended up sailing their separate ways after less than two years together.

Dr. Marc Mani

Next up on Heather Locklear’s ever-expanding collection of husbands and boyfriends was a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon called Dr. Marc Mani. He’s widely regarded as one of the top surgeons in the country, featured on Forbes magazine’s list of the “10 Leading Providers” among U.S. plastic surgeons, and is now worth $15 million.

They hooked up in 2013, but learning from her past mistakes, Locklear kept her new relationship private, rarely speaking about her new beau.

Instagram // @heatherlocklear

That said, on the few occasions they were spotted out and about in Los Angeles, they looked like they were very much in love. Heather and Marc made a handsome couple, but their relationship hit the rocks and came crashing down after three years in 2016.

Chris Heisser

So, remember Heather’s high school sweetheart, Chris Heisser? He was the one with the long, golden Farrah Fawcett hair. Well, over the decades, Chris has done quite well for himself, becoming a semi-successful motocross racer and, later, an entrepreneur.

After 40 years, the former high school sweethearts rekindled their friendship. This friendship soon turned to love, and they began seeing each other romantically. A close friend of Locklear’s revealed — “After all the fame, she found her way back to a simpler life with the boy she dated in high school.”

Instagram // @heatherlocklear

After four decades apart, had Heather finally found the man of her dreams? Was Chris going to be the knight in shining armor that would save her from herself? In a word, no. Another nightmare was looming on the horizon.

Call the Cops

On February 26th, 2018, Heather had a massive argument with her boyfriend, Chris, at her Thousand Oaks home. Her brother called 911, and when police officers got to the scene, they found the “heavily intoxicated” Dynasty star screaming and fighting with her boyfriend.

Officers arrested Locklear on suspicion of felony DV over the alleged bust-up with her boyfriend. But instead of going quietly, Heather became a ticking time bomb of rage. First, she kicked three cops who were trying to separate her from her family.

Getty Images // Ventura County Sheriffs Office

Then, she kicked a paramedic as they were putting her on a gurney. In addition to the domestic violence charge, the Ventura County District Attorney’s office also charged Locklear with battery on a police officer, battery on an EMT, and resisting, obstructing, or delaying a police officer.

Things Get Even Worse

Police released Heather — who’s worth a cool $18 million — on a $20,000 bond just before six o’clock the next morning. But things were about to go from bad to worse. Mere hours after police had taken Locklear into custody, her boyfriend, Chris Heisser, was arrested on a driving under the influence charge, speeding his car around their neighborhood. Then things got ridiculous…

After obtaining a warrant from a judge, police officers entered Heather’s Thousand Oaks home to search for a weapon on March 12th, but the cops found no weapon.

Instagram // @dailyheatherlocklear

Later, in March 2018, Locklear reportedly went into rehab after her DV charge, plus charges for lashing out at the cops and paramedic. But Heather’s slide into the abyss and getting in trouble with the law wasn’t over yet…

Up to Her Old Tricks

On June 24th, 2018, LAPD’s finest boys in blue were again called to Locklear’s home on Summit View Drive, near Westlake Village. When officers arrived, they found she had bitten her boyfriend, Chris’s nose, so they arrested Locklear again. Details are hazy, but it seems Heather again lashed out at the emergency responders.

After being released on bail, Locklear was hospitalized. Tragically, it seemed as though she had once again tried to take her own life.

Getty Images // Ventura County Sheriffs Office

In August 2019, the actress pleaded no contest to the charges from her arrests on five counts of battery on a peace officer, one count of battery on an emergency medical personnel, and two counts of resisting arest. The judge sentenced her to a 120-day jail suspended sentence and 30 days in a residential mental health facility.

Twist in Her Sobriety

Heather’s relationship with Chris seemed to help her stay off the booze since sobering up in 2019. But then, in July 2023, The New York Post published photos showing Locklear looking disheveled, behaving erratically, and spritig across a street, sparking worries she had fallen off the wagon. Those close to her said she had discovered her favorite Mexican tipple.

She was pictured staggering around a parking lot in Malibu, talking to herself in public and trying to balance while sitting on a ledge with her head in her hands.

YouTube // Page Six

The former actress and model had recently lost 40 pounds on diabetes medication Ozempic, which people use for weight loss. A source told Daily Mail, “The family is very worried, everyone feels helpless — Richie, her family, especially her daughter Ava who loves her so much.”

Happily Ever After

A year after getting back together, Chris and Heather got engaged. Locklear flashed a massive diamond ring to paparazzi, saying she was engaged to her “favorite person!” Then, in April 2020, she announced on Instagram she’d been sober for one year. After a rollercoaster decade and a half, Heather had finally found peace.

Instagram // @heatherlocklear

In April 2024, CBS announced a Melrose Place reboot 25 years after Amanda and Peter walked off into the sunset. Will Heather stay sober and live happily ever after with her fiancé, Chris? You’ll have to tune into Melrose Place to see if Heather Locklear makes another remarkable comeback.
